In October, 1996 LaRC placed the publication entitled Photographic Survey of the LDEF Mission (O'Neal, Levine, and Kiser, NASA Special Publication 531) on-line. This HTML document contains a photographic summary of the LDEF mission and documents the effects of more than 5 1/2 years of exposure to the space environment on the LDEF spacecraft and its experiments. The accompanying text explains where each photograph was taken (e.g., in-flight or in the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility II [SAEF II]), the location of the experiment on LDEF, the notable characteristics of each photograph, and general visual observations.

Please Note: Follow the Table of Contents link in the upper left-hand corner of the Photographic Survey of the LDEF Mission cover page, or select Table of Contents to go directly there.
