Experiment Description:

Lithium niobate is a significant electro-optic material, with potential applications in ultra- high capacity data storage and processing systems. Lithium niobate is the material of choice for many integrated optical devices and holographic mass memory systems. A compact high-bit-capacity recorder (on the order of 100,000,000,000 bits) and memory system is sought. Electro-optic holographic recording systems are being developed and appear extremely promising.
