In an effort to help spacecraft designers address the concerns and potential problems due to the radiation environment a list of radiation models has been compiled.

The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) provides a description, author name, references and software/hardware requirements of many models, with the following models of special interest for space radiation engineers and scientists:

Information on code availability is given, or the user may go directly to the The Radiation Shielding Information Center (RSIC) established at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory provides a comprehensive list of radiation transport codes of which the keyword and alphabetical listings are useful to locate specific topics and models.

EnviroNET gives descriptions and access to models such as IRI, IGRF-90, Radbelt, Energetic Particles, CREME and Tsyganeko Magnetic Field.

The Environment WorkBench (EWB) has a model list which includes IRI Ionospheric Plasma, IGRF 87 Geomagnetic Field, and AE-8 and AP-8 Trapped Particles.
