Jim Alston

Dr. Alston is Director of Research at the George W. Park Seed Company in South Carolina. Dr. Alston's activities have included seed quality control, seed germination and storage research, accessory product evaluation and plant and seed trialing . He has developed varieties within several genera: Begonia, Salvia, Coleus, Capsicum, Rosa and X Pardancanda. Dr. Alston is an active member of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, Soceity of Commercial Seed Technologists, Sigma Xi and Alpha Zeta.

Dr. Alston served as Principal Investigator of the ionizing radiation experiment SEEDS IN SPACE (P0004-01) and as cooperator and consultant on the SEEDS Project (P0004-02) Experiment. Dr. Alston has authored the following papers regarding the LDEF ionizing radiation data:
